This is my attempt at drawing my thumbnail sketch. The contact Pose. This isn't sneaking, it is however a very tentative walk. the energy is electric but its being suppressed and the emotion is tentative .
Hi Shae. The secondary action (animation principle) of the psychological hand gesture (animation principle of solid drawing)suggests a degree of tentativeness.
The line of action from the back foot through and up through the head is quite straight, which colud indicate a tension or determination in the walk.
In a contact pose the front foot is usually reaching out for the ground. In most walks this is indicated by a straight front leg on contact. In a tentative walk the leg may be bent slightly but the foot would be straight and reaching out to touch/feel for the ground with the toes (like the front hand is feeling in front of the body for any gigantic white wolves that might be in the area). Try a straight leg sketch, nd a slightly bent leg but straight foot set of sketches to explore these ideas.
In terms of body position, someone thinking there might be danger would have both arms forward and their chest and head leaning away from potential danger (even if they are being led by a firefly on a silk thread). Consider some sketches while inhabiting those thoughts.
Drawing the ground better defines the point of contact.
Jump up and act it out. Take some video reference of a person being led with a string while wearing a blind fold or an eyemask. Don't do that acting it out near a tall flight of stairs, edge of a pool or atop the Kangaroo Point cliffs.
Thank you so much for your GREAT CRITIQUE. All of your advice is so muchly appreciated. Thank you. I will do a few more sketches with your feedback in mind and hopefully push my pose, so that it better encompases the mood of my character and story. Thankyou !!! have a great weekend :) xoxo
