11 Second Club February 2010 Winner - Nedy Acet

I was watching a few of the 11second club entrants seeing as I FINALLY have time in my life that isnt spent on the train. HOLY CRUD, i know right! Ok so, this guys name kept coming up as the competition winner (Nedy Acet) he's obviously entered a few ...and won a few. Anywhooo, this one made me laugh and I thought I'd share it with you. I LOVE the animation on the face and head (although it appears that most of the work has gone into actual choreography !) I got a giggle out of it, so I'm sure you will too :)

REALL BIG MISTAKES

....Can be fixed with this REALLY BIG ERASER apparently. I say 'apparently' because I'm sceptical. I rubbed the eraser overmy little brothers arm and he didn't start to disappear. Perhaps I bought a lemon ? Hahah I jsut had to share my incredible discovery (and amazing facial expression) It will be in class for photos and signings later this week. :) ....the eraser..not my face.

Its late, i dont know what made me want to do this.. but i wanna clean it up and paint it and make it pretty. this is the ONE SECOND line test haha. It's on twos. so I only drew 12 frames and it works pretty well ! really excited.

It sounds cliche but... watching a drawing you made, come ''to life'' really is enchanting !

Cal Arts Student Films

So on a rainy night in I decided to youtube search calarts student films. HOW DEPRESSING. haha They're amazing. After getting over the initial over whelming jealousy i was able to enjoy the pure skill in story telling and artistic talent. Any who.. long story short I thought I'd share some with you, This one first in particular because it made me think of Elle :) I love the black and white abstract character design, the scene layout as well with its lovely skewed perspective. OK.. so this is the first of a few I thought I'd post Enjoy

OH yet another funny weird little thing that my annoying brother found on youtube that he thought of humerous value. While he was piddling himself laughing I struggled to understand how those characters were rigged and animated. Also at how long it takes me to make a character design that i think looks good and then how these guys can mush a few rectangles and squares together and have appealing, individual characters with plenty of sass !

Very simple. But I noticed and "animating to music" post on Frank's blog a while ago and this reminded me of it. The song is really cool too

So I spent ages working on my camera move in maya and I had it going a an interesting pace only to export it and realise I had the frame rate wronnnng . So now it goes reallllyyyyyyyyyy realllyyyyyyyy slow . haha.

Kid and Coach

This is our latest 2d animation assignment ! Jeremy and I worked very hard on it (as you can see).....
I always forget to put it on my blog. This is the mimimum requirements , thats why there is no lipsync as yet. Hopefully I can finish it and put the completed version up here soon ~ (we need more wacom pens :D )

Well well well. Look at what you find when your annoying little brother decides to show you something he found on YouTube. Usually it's not worth watching and I have to pretend that I enjoyed.. but this time..it was great !
I love how simple the characters are and how easy this simple design gets every emotion accross. I particularly enjoyed the stretch and squash on these characters -the cushions on most of the dialogue was excellent ! (See how smart I sound using all the principles of annnnniiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimation) :P

Is Maya the good guy or the bad guy ?

Today was 3D Monday and it wasn't as painful as I originally imagained (considering that my experience with 2D animating was downright traumatic. I made a bouncing sphere...jolty as it is, its still a bouncing sphere.

Next we're making a 'bean character', such the simple designs from Pixars short film "For the Birds"

Storyboards

Just a quick post out of pure boredome. Today it has rained and rained and rained. I worked early in the morning, got sent home early cos it was so quiet, and am now sitting at my laptop staring at the window getting lashed with sheets of pelting rain...IT'S STILL RAINING... and while I was day dreaming, I began mentally reliving our first day in the class when Frank asked what made us want to do this course/get into this industry. I said it was watching the storyboards to the Dreamworks animation 'Spirit, Stallion of the Cimerron". Sitting here now, I realised it's been ages since I watched them through (like I did every second when I was younger)and I felt in the need of a little jolt of animationary/storyboarding inspiration :)

Galactic Domination

N.B In the credits replace the dedication to "Fraky G", with "Frankalicious" becuase we were told that "the last time I was called 'Franky', I was nine years old... and that kid is still in hospital". Sorry Frank but after you saying that I am incredibly tempted to call you it...maybe just once to see what happens hahaha.

But apparently Frankalicious is acceptable.. ? hmm

Anyway, Josh and I were the newbies tagging along with some awesome 2nd years to the pube :) And as the evening wore on we were told some handy hints like ...
1. Always ask for a student discount on drinks
2. Draw peoples charactures and give it to them with your signature on it, it's a good way to get your name out there
3. If you find blue pacer leads "buy a shit load and don't tell anyone where you got them"
4. Don't ever throw out ...*hiccup*.. your old sketch books so you can look back on them and see ..*hiccup*.. your progress.
5. I llovrree youhh guaahyss..*hiccup*
(p.s they didnt actually get drunk..while we were there im just making shit up)

I want to fall down a rabit hole!!

So we saw Alice in Wonderland♥
One of the single most incredible movies I have ever seen.
Not only were we witness to Alice in Wonderland on Thursday but were also exposed to the joy of 'camping trips'..also known as 'breakdowns'.. yeah right haha.
When asked if I'd like to go camping after Alice in Wonderland, I simply replied "Uh.. no thanks have work tomorrow..."
Well wasn't that hilarious... :|

"No no" I was told, "Camping is just a code name for going to the pub after the movie."
The code came into use because apparently it's innapropriate to have out of school relations with your teacher... (hmm probably shouldn't have explained that...?) Althought I'm sure actually going camping with your teacher would be just as bad, if not worse, than just going to the pub (also commonly referred to as the 'pube') with them.

Bitching about public transport.

So... in my life before a car the public transport system has made a nice fortune off me in fares. After years of putting up with paying to sit next to a sweaty dude with B.O and no respect for my personal bubble in 40 degree heat I finally got my license and was free to drive around on my own schedule without stopping every 500 meters for a lazy yobbo who can't afford his rego to get on the bus with his two bags grocery shopping - only to get off at the next stop..30 seconds later.

Over the years I'd become very tolerent to teenage boys throwing sandwhiches on the school bus, girls who shouldn't be old enough to pronounce 'intercourse' yet alone be swapping personal stories about 'it' and grade 2 children calling each other "F*cking c*nts"... (if only their mothers knew) since having a year away from the buses I had become very naive to the horror of public transport and on my first trip to South Bank I was subject to the afformentioned 'sweaty dude with B.O'... prompting this incredibly annoying and whiney blog.
